Preparation of the Natural Nail

Step 1: Sanitise your hands and your client’s hands.

Step 2: Remove any existing gel polish or lacquer.

Step 3: Gently push back the cuticles, removing any excess from the nail plate.

Step 4: File the nails with a 180 grit nail file.

Step 5: If using nail tips, gently etch the natural nail with a 180 grit file to remove the shine, working vertically from cuticle to free edge.

Step 6: Remove dust and scrub the nail with Halo Prep & Scrub.

Step 7: Apply nail tips or forms.

Application

Step 1: Apply Halo Gel Polish Base Coat, taking care to avoid flooding the cuticle area and nail walls, and cure (30 seconds under standard LED and 60 seconds under standard UV light).

Step 2: Apply a slick layer of Easi Build to the nail – this will guide your building layer to the correct place on the nail bed. Do not cure this layer.

Step 3: Next, apply a building layer directly on top of the slick layer, concentrating on your apex and structure. If the product flattens, hold the hand upside down to help regain the shape. Cure as above.

Step 4: Repeat Step 3 if you have not achieved the required shape.

Step 5: Using a lint-free wipe, remove the sticky layer with Gel Wipe.

Finishing

Step 1: File the nails with a 180 grit file to refine the shape, length, and surface.

Step 2: Buff the nails with a white buffing block to smooth the surface.

Step 3: Remove dust.

Step 4: Apply Halo Gel Polish Top Coat and cure as above.

Step 5: After allowing time to cool, apply Pure Nails Cuticle Feed.

Removal

Step 1: Remove the bulk with a 100 grit nail file.

Step 2: Soak the nail in acetone, either by using a bowl or soaking a nail wipe and wrapping the finger in foil.

Step 3: Leave for 10 minutes.

Step 4: Using a cuticle pusher or orange wood stick, gently scrape off the softened product residue. Never force the product off the nails – if it needs more time, re-soak in acetone for a further 5 minutes.

Step 5: Buff the nails with a white buffing block ready for re-application. If not re-applying, massage Cuticle Feed into the nails and cuticles.
