Prep
As we all know, the perfect tan starts way before your client enters the tanning booth. Make sure to inform your clients of the best skincare preparation that will increase the longevity of their glow. Clients should arrive to their appointment with clean, exfoliated skin free from moisturiser, perfumes, deodorants and makeup. If your clients shave or wax their body hair, it’s best to do this 24-48 hours before the appointment to ensure tan doesn’t cling to the pores, causing ‘strawberry legs’.
Spray Tan Top Tips
1 – When spraying, you should always move at an even speed and distance from the skin. This will ensure a truly even coverage.
2 – For back tanning, Bondi Sands recommend starting with a vertical motion before spraying horizontally.
3 – When spraying the front of your client’s body, use diagonal motions across the chest and work your way down to the stomach.
4 – For hands and feet, carefully use a cross-over motion to avoid over-spraying and repeat if needed.
5 – When spraying the face, ask your client to close their eyes and relax their face, keeping the chin raised at all times.
6 – For ankle tanning, use the same cross-over motion as used on the hands and feet. Bondi recommend performing this stage 2-3 times to ensure even coverage.

Which Bondi Sands solution should I use?
This really depends on each client’s natural skin tone and specific tanning requirements. For first time tanners, it’s a great idea to use the light/medium solution. If you’ve got more experienced tanners or clients after a deeper tan, try the dark or ultra dark solution depending on their skin tone. If clients prefer a flawless golden glow over a bronzed look, then Bondi Sands Liquid Gold is the answer!
How many spray tans can I get per bottle?
Bondi advise using approximately 50ml for each full-body spray tan. Depending on the spray tan machine and gun used, you can expect to get 10-15 full spray tans out of a 1L tanning solution.
Can I spray more than once?
Absolutely! If you want to achieve a darker tan, then you can repeat the spray tan technique. However, it’s not advised to spray more than 2 layers of tan, as the skin can only absorb so much product.
How long does Bondi Sands take to develop?
Each Bondi Sands solution uses an express formula that means tan is ready to wash off in as little as 2 hours; however, if clients want a deeper result, tan can be left to develop for up to 8 hours before showering.
How long does Bondi Sands last?
With proper care, your clients should expect their tan to last approximately 5-7 days. Recommend your client applies an oil-free moisturiser daily to ensure their tan stays glowing for longer, and fades evenly.
Is Bondi Sands cruelty free?
100%. All Bondi Sands tan products are completely vegan and cruelty-free. Bondi Sands stands firmly against animal testing and none of their products have been tested on animals or use animal products in their formulae.
Is Bondi Sands safe while pregnant?
A Bondi Sands spray tan shouldn’t be harmful to pregnant clients, as it is typically only the top layer of skin that’s affected by DHA. For extra caution, advise clients to cover their mouth and nose during spray tanning treatments to avoid inhaling the product. You can also perform a skin test before carrying out the treatment as hormone levels are prone to fluctuation during pregnancy. As with anything, if your client is concerned, then advise them to consult their doctor before booking an appointment.
